treatment for vaginitis?

Vaginitis is usually easy to treat. The type of treatment depends on the following factors:
  • What type of vaginitis presents
  • How severe are the symptoms
  • If you are pregnant
For vaginitis caused by bacterial vaginosis, yeast infection or trichomonas vaginal infection, your provider of health care may prescribe creams, suppositories, vaginal or oral medications. Certain drugs for yeast infections can be purchased without a prescription.
In the case of vaginitis caused by an allergy or an irritant, the symptoms usually disappear once you stop using the substance or object that caused the irritation. Sometimes it may be necessary to use a cream to fix the problem. In some rare cases of serious allergic reactions may require emergency medical attention.
For vaginitis caused by low levels of estrogen, your healthcare provider may prescribe health an estrogen cream or a vaginal ring that releases estrogen in your body.
Remember that the vaginitis is not related to how clean you are.Bathing or douching will not cure vaginitis. However, it is important to maintain good hygiene for good health. This includes washing the vulva every day with mild soap and fragrance free.
During treatment for vaginitis ...
Tampons or pads
In general, you should do what makes you feel more comfortable. If you place a suppository as part of a treatment before going to bed, use tampons overnight. Otherwise, the buffer will absorb the drug. It's okay if you use tampons during the day when you have your period, particularly in the final stage of treatment.
Some women use sanitary pads or panty liners to prevent the medication from leaking and dirty clothing. Others feel uncomfortable when they are used. If you're wondering what I should do, ask your provider's view of health care.
Sexual intercourse
It is better not to have sex when suffering from vaginitis. Intercourse or other sex play, can cause discomfort or pain. Sex can also worsen symptoms and impair the effectiveness of treatment.
To ensure the effectiveness of treatment:
  • No drug use of another person. As much as the symptoms are similar to those of another person, you may need different treatments.
  • Do not use drugs that have long ago. May no longer be effective and may even worsen the infection.
  • Use all the medicine, even if you no symptoms of the condition. These may come back if you do not use all the medicine.
  • Administer the drug even though you have your period. Some infections can develop quickly vaginitis in menstrual flow.
  • Be sure to have all subsequent tests.
